Pilot testing guide

How to test AnswerCurrent with your own websites

This is an honest description of the pilot as it stands. Nothing here changes your website, sends messages or charges you.

Works today

  • Add your own websites (one per line) — each gets a separate workspace
  • Record verified business facts per website
  • Log experiments: page, publication date, source, baseline, and manual measurements
  • See 30/60/90-day review dates on the Experiments page
  • Export and import your test configuration as JSON
  • Try the full approve-then-publish flow in the separate demo workspace (simulated)

Not connected yet

  • Accounts and server storage — data stays in your browser
  • Question research — requests queue as “pending setup” and never complete
  • Publishing to WordPress or any live site
  • Search Console, Bing or analytics data — indexing stays “unknown” until you verify it yourself
  • Email digests and reminders
  • Billing — nobody is charged

Suggested test plan

  1. Open the Websites page and add the domains you own or manage.
  2. Select a website and fill in its business profile with verified facts.
  3. Make a change on your site yourself, then log it as an experiment with a baseline.
  4. Check indexing in Search Console or Bing and mark it verified, then add manual measurements at each review date.
  5. Export your configuration regularly — storage is browser-only.

Google Search Console checklist

  1. Open Google Search Console and add a property

Use a Domain property (covers all subdomains and http/https) if you can edit DNS; otherwise a URL-prefix property for your exact https:// address. Google's instructions

  2. Verify ownership

For a Domain property, add the TXT record Google gives you at your DNS provider. Google's instructions

  3. Submit your sitemap

In Sitemaps, submit your sitemap URL (often /sitemap.xml). Google's instructions

  4. Inspect changed pages

After publishing a change, use URL Inspection to check indexing, then record the result in Experiments. Google's instructions

  5. Record a baseline

From the Performance report, note clicks and impressions for the page before the change. Google's instructions

Bing Webmaster Tools checklist

  1. Sign in to Bing Webmaster Tools

You can import sites already verified in Google Search Console, or add a site manually. Bing Webmaster Tools

  2. Verify and submit the sitemap

Verify ownership, then submit the same sitemap URL.

  3. Use URL Inspection

Check whether Bing has indexed a changed page and record it manually.
